What is an MCP server?+

Model Context Protocol lets AI apps (Cursor, Claude, Windsurf…) call external tools. FauxGen MCP exposes fake-data generators so the agent can seed fixtures without inventing broken SSNs by hand.

Is it free / open source?+

Yes. MIT license on GitHub. Install with npx — no API key for the local generators.

Does MCP replace the website?+

No. MCP is for JSON fixtures inside your editor. Chat screenshots, plate images, barcodes and AI faces stay on fauxgen.com in the browser.

Are the credit cards / IBANs real?+

No. They pass Luhn / mod-97 so your validators work. They are not issued accounts — never use them for real payments or KYC.

How do I update?+

npx -y fauxgen-mcp always pulls the latest published version. Pin a version in args if you need reproducibility.
